Mohanlal wraps up filming his first directorial venture; sharing pictures of sets


With the 3D film Barroz, which has a Portuguese background, superstar Mohanlal made the transition from actor to filmmaker. The film depicts the story of a man who protects Vasco Da Gama, the discoverer of a 400-year-old treasure. On his blog, The Complete Actor, he shared the news in 2019. The Lucifer actor announced on Twitter that filming was now complete.

Sharing a group selfie with his team as he announced the end of Barroz, Mohanlal wrote: “This is Barroz team disconnecting from location. And now… the wait begins!”

In the photo, he is pictured with the cast and crew of Barroz. Kochi, Goa, Dehradun, Portugal and Guinea all served as filming locations for this Malayalam production. The most important part of the film will now be the post-production and visual effects work.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by Jijo Punnoose and is produced by Aashirvaad Cinemas. Unni Mukundan, Maya, Paz Vega, Guru Somasundaram, Rafael Amargo and Cesar Lorente Raton also have prominent roles in the film.

Santosh Sivan is in charge of the film’s cinematography and Lydian Nadhaswaram composed the background score.

Mohanlal is currently working on a number of films including Monster, Alone, Ram, L2: Empuraan and L353.
