Renaissance Venture Capital will introduce various founders with a new event | News

ANN ARBOUR, Mich., January 24, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Renaissance Venture Capital’s biannual UnDemo Day® has won national acclaim for its appeal to venture capital Michigan companies, and April 27, Renaissance will launch its first UnDemo Day® designed exclusively to attract domestic venture capital to diverse founders. The virtual event will highlight businesses in the Midwest and Central United States led by women, people of color and other diverse communities.

“Our history at Renaissance has been one of successfully attracting top venture capital funds from across the country to invest in regional startups,” said Chris Rice, Founder and Managing Director of Renaissance Venture Capital. “And our goal for April 27 is to tap into this powerful network of investors to focus on around 50 of the region’s most promising companies led by various founders. A lot of these are meetings those founders would otherwise struggle to get, and likewise, these are startups that VCs might not otherwise find.”

Startups led by women, black and Latino founders collectively receive less than 10% of all venture capital investments, and trends have not changed dramatically over the past decade, even though research shows that these companies have historically provided strong overall financial returns to investors. In many cases, access to investors is the limiting factor, and UnDemo Day® gives startups access to hundreds of potential investors from across the United States.

In a similar format to previous UnDemo Days®, the event will feature larger group “pitch rooms” as well as hundreds of one-on-one meetings between startups and VCs. Last year alone, 15 Michigan startups received venture capital funding as a result of UnDemo Day® introductions.

Renaissance and its partner Invest Detroit Ventures will host pre-event coaching sessions to help participating startups prepare their pitches, and startups will also have access to UnDemo Day® consultation on accounting, legal, and HR planning for their businesses. companies with the partners of the event. Ernst & Young, Foley & Lardner and Amy Cell Talent.
