Vancouver-based luxury cosmetics company Lens Digger Cosmetics was created to empower women to be their best selves in all aspects of their lives. The inspiration to launch the beauty brand came from founder Ivonne Carrillo when she felt nothing else.
“When COVID first hit the world in 2020, I was fired from my job at a downtown law firm. Like many people, I was fired because I was not an ‘essential’ employee of this multi-million dollar company,” Carrillo told Daily Hive.
The period was filled with anxiety and uncertainty for Carrilo, who was hurt by how easily her former company got rid of her.
“After many emotional breakdowns and the fear of being a ‘nobody’, I had an epiphany that triggered a fight or flight response. I was going to build something that was mine and I wasn’t going to give nobody the chance to fire me again.
That’s when Carillo decided to follow his dream by starting Goal Digger Cosmetics and his hard work is paying off. The beauty brand is currently distributed by 10 retailers across Canada with plans for future expansion into the US and UK.
“I started Goal Digger Cosmetics because I saw a huge lack of female empowerment in the beauty industry,” Carillo explained. “I found that while many brands promote confidence and beautiful makeup, I had yet to find a brand that really cared about their audience looking their best in all aspects of their lives.”
A Goal Digger is described on the company’s website as “a woman who works hard, takes pride, and helps lift her sisters.” Products, which are shipped worldwide from the Company Websiteinclude a variety of lashes, soft plumpers and two new three-in-one palettes launching this month.
“All of our products are tested for months to ensure quality. That’s why we work closely with production to have full control of the product,” Carillo said. “In addition to our quality, Goal Digger Cosmetics aims to end cruelty to animals, which is why our products are 100% vegan and not tested on animals.”
The attention to detail has won over fans in the beauty and film industry. Goal Digger Cosmetics has been featured by beauty and fashion blogs, has been used by popular reality TV stars, and has been used behind the scenes of film shoots.
Carillo also plans to organize anti-bullying and self-love programs in schools and community centers to teach young women effective ways to deal with social issues.
“I attribute our success to our community. We’re all like-minded people trying to make it in the beauty industry,” Carillo explained. “They help us with names, designs and introduce our products through their social media. Without our strong community, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
The path to entrepreneurial success isn’t easy, but it’s the one Carillo encourages everyone to follow.
“I used to see business as a scary, challenging monster, and now I accept every challenge and see it as an opportunity to learn and grow,” Carillo said. “The reality is that we came into the world with all the confidence and power to do whatever we want to do, but somewhere along our journey we encountered situations that negatively impacted our self-esteem. self.
“I want everyone to know that the sky is the limit when you work hard and train your mind to be your friend. When you let go of the fearful voice inside of you that tells you you can’t do it, you open yourself to opportunity.
